She is such a weirdo and she's so moody. Yeah I would be one of those people cheering. I didn't think she was all that bad.. She was moody but that's her character and the anime would be so different without her!
I don't hate her anymore, but she was kinda annoying. I didn't really find her all that annoying. I still dislike her but I did feel bad for her as she did show some remorse. Never did like her she was seriously irritating and really racist against the Japanese.
Plus there was something about her characteristics that made it obvious that she was going to be insane. In fact, Nina was actually the only one of the racist characters who showas awareness of her actions and we actually see her trying to compensate for what she did. While Jeremiah while never openly apologizing for his persecuted of other races died at least assist Lelouch, despite knowing full well that Lelouch was fighting for equality, which shows that Jeremiah at least can acknowledge that non-britanians are worth fighting for.
If he still hated the Japanese and saw them as beneath him, then he would have continued fight against Lelouch, or, at the very least, stayed neutral and just retired to his orange farm. What gradual development? He had no character development and let's be frank, no character depth up until halfway through the second season, when he was going to kill Zero until he realised Zero was Marianne's son, and changed his mind in an instant. He flipped on a switch.
His following actions in R2 were all about about obeying Lelouch, and there's not a moment where he reflects on his past actions. He didn't join Zero because he regretted what he did, he changed his values to suit his new lord and master's. Meanwhile, Nina actually showed character depth throughout the series, even if it made her unlikeable, and she faced the result of her actions, owned up to them and actually did something to mitigate their consequences, even if it meant working with someone she despised.
There's nothing wrong with liking Jeremiah and not liking Nina. In fact, the way they're presented in the series makes it look like that's what the showrunners wanted. Well, until the last episodes where Nina gets some of the best development in the show.
Just don't pretend it's got to do with her racism when you see so many fans willingly dismissing fan favourites having the same character trait, only worse because they actually killed people just because they were Numbers, when they never really show the same self-awareness of their actions Nina ended up with. Initially for her, Fleija was a science problem to figure out.
Nina built the bomb with one purpose, to kill Zero. Not to kill people indiscriminately on mass. That thought never entered her mind. Lloyd undoubtedly understood exactly what it could do at his first glance, but being a sociopath had do qualms in letting a kid build a WMD. He probably was doing the same things at her age.
Might have even thought it as being an alternate power source for his knightmares. Because she was made to be hated by the creators. Imagine being held hostage by terrorists and then you continue to be racist towards those hostages and put everyone, innocent women and children, in danger because of your prejudice.
Racist colonizer, develops a bomb, goes insane when her waifu is killed and tries to destroy her school, then mass produces her WMD for tyrannical world peace under Schnizel. Not a villian or antagonist just a realistic and hateable person. So, Jeremiah then? He became a Purist and was shown enjoying killing civillians because they were Elevens just because his waifu and her children were killed. Doesn't even have the excuse of being a teenager. Yeah but Jeremiah is at least entertaining.
All Nina does is scream, make everything about her, and hump tables. Jeremiah was not shown regretting his actions, nor did he redeem himself just because he swore loyalty to Lelouch when the sole reason he did so was because Lelouch was Marianne's son.
Meanwhile Nina was not only horrified by the consequence of her actions the moment they became real , she accepted her responsability and actively worked towards minimising the damage she caused. And she was a teenager and Jeremiah an adult. Cos she humps tables, what kind of sick human do you have to be to do such a thing. I never really hated her but the main reason most do is because of her racism and her creating the FLEIJA and her telling Suzaku to use it during the battle for Tokyo in season 2.
She also tried to detonate a prototype of it during season 1 but that failed. Because you're supposed to the creators made her extremely unlikable. Here are a few examples:. What I always found to be strange is that many other likable characters in Code Geass that share similar traits but people love those characters.
If you look at those characters it becomes obvious why you like them and hate Nina. A reminder that Jeremiah too was shown actually enjoying massacring civillians just because they were Elevens.
Your other points aside. Was Cornelia really that racist? Nina was afraid of Numbers and at a times looked down on them. Cornelia wanted to keep the status quo of discriminating the numbers.
In some ways that's worse than Nina since Cornelia has actual power where Nina is just an average citizen. Millys family runs a school in the heart of Japan in the Brittanian settlement. She shows no outward racism to the Japanese, and is never hinted at an inward hatred. She accepted Suzaku into the council at a time when he was being alienated, and it was Shirley who suggested to approach him.
And she did. But maybe being in Japan made them soft? Born and raised in the heart of Brittania, 17th in line to the throne, surely indoctrinated from the start? So where is his racist and disgusting attitude? Even though he should be an example for the Japanese people as the son of the PM. So lets take a look at Nina specifically; where the fuck is it mentioned she was left in the ghetto and assaulted?
No conversation or flashback takes place in the anime or manga. NO insinuation is made, no evidence whatsoever. Again there is no justifiable reason for racism.
You hate the individuals not the collective group they identify with. Though there is zero insinuation, proof or otherwise that shows this to be the case, and in fact this entire argument is deterministic, when all the characters in this show have free will, unless under Lelouchs Geass.
This is reason alone to hate her. She understood their power. She knew. They did computer simulations and tests. Uranium is so unstable, that outside controlled fission reactions for the sake of boiling fluids for steam turbines. Bottom line weaponised. Okay, the revenge for Euphy, fair enough. Plus she knew the capabilities regardless of being blinded by love. It was in private. Albeit creepy as fuck, but it was in private.
But excuse you?!
