The first three are the video source, capture and encoding devices. The last connects you to the Internet to stream your content. The amount of bandwidth you have available directly impacts the quality of your video.
The video source is a camera. It can be built into your laptop or smartphone, or can be a USB webcam. You can also use a digital camcorder or high-definition professional camera. For multi-camera and chroma-key setups, you can use a video switcher to take advantage of full professional broadcast features.
Ustream integrates with several models of the NewTek TriCaster production system, allowing you to manage multiple cameras and video inputs in addition to titles and other graphics. However, if you are using a camcorder or video switcher, you may need a capture box or card to digitize your video. Some camcorders can transfer video to a computer using Firewire.
The right one for you will depend on the types of video outputs on your camera and inputs on your computer. Once you capture your video, it will need to be encoded to a format ideal for streaming, to ensure you deliver the best quality video for your bandwidth. Encoding defines your video resolution, bitrate, codecs and other settings that affect the quality of your stream. At the other end are male red, white and yellow RCA connectors.
The signal is NTSC. For high quality live streaming an average upload speed of 2Mbps is required. Please check with the network administrator about communication availability with the following ports on the server. Please note that the firewall does not block the connection to the below ports.
Check if the audio is coming out of the PC, Mac or Smartphone which you used for network setup. Check if the audio cable is firmly connected to both devices. Audio or video cannot be played on your PC, Mac or Smartphone during network setup. Make sure you do not have the Dashboard main panel and the Ustream broadcast screen open at the same time, or two screens of either of these. Close one of the screens or turn the volume in one of them down to zero, and then check again.
Turn the volume to zero for either screen using the Volume tab in the Dashboard main panel. Do not use Ustream Broadcaster at same time. If you use it, close it and stop all broadcast. Take 15min before restart. Set other Ustream channel to your LiveShell and make sure you can broadcast without problem. The connection and broadcasting to ustream.
